General Education Requirements

As a prerequisite to entering a Degree program, students are required to complete 35 credit hours of General Education covering the following topics:

  • English (9 credit hours)
  • Math (3 credit hours)
  • Laboratory Sciences (8 credit hours)
  • Humanities and Fine Arts (6 – 9 credit hours)
  • Social and Behavioral Studies (3 – 9credit hours)

Westbrook University offers the General Education courses, however, these types of courses are found at most community colleges and are transferable to Westbrook University. In most cases, students that hold an Associate Degree have already completed the General Education requirements. EN 400 Basic English for Practical Communications – 4 credits

CP 446 Mastering Communication Skills – 3 credits

FL 409 Clarifying Communications – 3 credits

Math (3 credit hours)

BA 430 Math Power – 3 credits

BA 431 Algebra – 3 credits

Laboratory Sciences (8 credit hours)

HS 458 Blood Chemistry & Urine Analysis – 5 credits

HS 462 Bach Flower Remedies – 5 credits

Humanities and Fine Arts (6 – 8 credit hours)

RL 411 North American Indians: Myth and Religion – 3 credits

MP 421 Universal Laws of Metaphysics – 3 credits

IA 403 Dreams: The Secret Language of Sleep – 2 credits

SA 401 The Healing Power of Prayer – 2 credits

Social and Behavioral Studies (3 – 9 credit hours)

AD 436 Alcoholism and Chemical Dependency with College Students – 3 credits

ES 400 Esoteric Healing Remedies – 5 credits

ES 407 Medical Astrology – 3 credits

BACHELOR of ARTS (B.A.) or BACHELOR of SCIENCE (B.S.)

  • Required high school diploma or GED equivalent plus 35 hours of General Education in English, math, history, and laboratory sciences
  • 110 credit hours of personal studies in the field of the degree sought
  • A 10,000 word thesis reflecting your personal philosophies and the published philosophies of others. (10 credit hours)

 

MASTER of ARTS (M.A.) or MASTER of SCIENCE (M.S.)

  • Completion of a Bachelor Degree
  • 40 credit hours of personal studies and / or work / life experiential credits in the field of the degree sought
  • A 15,000 word thesis reflecting your personal philosophies and the published philosophies of others. (20 credit hours)

 

DOCTOR of PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D.) or DOCTOR of SCIENCE     (D.Sc.)

  • Completion of a Master Degree
  • 50 credit hours of required studies which includes professional writing skills, data gathering and analysis, and research methods
  • Research Project (10 credit hours) in preparation for the 25,000 word dissertation (30 credit hours) under the direction of a committee which includes a final defense of the dissertation.

 

DOCTOR of NATUROPATHY (N.D.)

  • Completion of a Bachelor Degree
  • 234 credit hours of personal studies in fields of Natural Healing and / or Nutrition
  • Completion of 35 credit hours (525 actual) of independent research, observations and practicals in the field of Natural Health Sciences
  • Completion of 70 credit hours (2100 actual hours) in a clinical externship in the region where the student resides
